Somewhat disheartened....

I get all these comments wishing me well on the book, everybody on this blog as well as Patreon, and all I can get are 3 reviews for the book?  And one of those is obviously the Amazon bot for new authors...

Sales are so-so...I did not expect anything huge for my first release, but the number of comments has left me a bit disheartened.  Wondering if I should even continue at this point..the interest seems to be rather low.  Not sure if it's simply the lack of "Kindle" devices (even though there are Kindle versions for iPhone, Android, as well as PC) or what...but welcome any comments people may have...

    1. Hehehe, this obviously wasn't directed at you ;) And I DO appreciate the kind words.

Being as the review/comment section you can change your name to whatever you want, it is completely anonymous, so if people are afraid of posting their real names/account, it CAN be changed when you post the review ;)

  2. Have you thought about putting it up on SmashWords? https://www.smashwords.com/ Amazon isn't very friendly towards me. Lots of book titles are not downloadable due to my location.

    1. I've posted this somewhere, but may have been on the Patreon site.

There are a couple reasons I went with Amazon initially. The main reason was it was free. Any other site (including SmashWords) requires an ISBN number registered to the book...which run $100-150 each depending on what broker you get the number from. You need an ISBN number for each format (so eBook, mobi, illustrated versus text, etc) of the book. Amazon assigns an internal AIN number for free and you do not need an ISBN number.

In addition, Amazon's Unlimited download option requires Amazon exclusivity for 90 days, so I'm locked in to Amazon until at least that amount of time without selling it any where else.

As Amazon has the largest viewership, it was an easy choice.

Basically I decided to give the book a go on Amazon and if it didn't do well, no loss. If it does do well, I can load it up to other sites once I have enough $$ to get enough ISBN numbers for every format I would upload it in...but again, it would have to sell very well to do so...

  3. I confess that I'm one of the lurkers. I'm subbed to your patreon but haven't bought the book yet. I do believe that in your case it's simply a matter of self advertising. The hot wife "community" on Amazon is there, but so are a lot of writers. To get noticed only by listing your book there is probably going to take a while, semi constant output and maybe some shorter stories sold very cheaply that can put you into the most sold faster. You'd be surprised by how short some of the recommended stuff from amazon are. The thing is, I think going with good girl going bad as a first story isn't the best for a quick buck. It'll help you on the long run as it is a quality work and once you get noticed, you'll probably steamroll a lot of the writers of the genre in there.

Sorry I can't be more helpful on that end, other than say that you have to shamelessly self-promote the book. As shady as it is, you should think about getting a "review team" for your work, maybe offer the book in exchange of a review, promotions like that.

    1. Well, you know me and short stories...they don't exist, hehehe. Every "short" story I've written has turned into a series, so I don't think that part is going to happen ;)

I've been looking in how to self-promote. I've posted on social media (FB primarily) as well as mentioned it on Literotica. The hard part is many publishing sites and promotional sites do not allow Erotica...so that's been a bit of an endeavor to track down the ones that do...and of those, there does not seem to be a large audience.

Right now, since the book is only on Amazon, it is going to be through comments, ratings, and the "People who have viewed this book have also viewed..." advertisements. Amazon allows additional advertising campaigns...but they cost a huge amount of money. It's the Catch 22 scenario...have to spend money to make money, LOL

      Thanks!

  4. Here my review (Pleased reader, who rent it on Amazon Unlimited):

It is not the first time I read a story from this author, and he is great in building characters, or creating suspence and climax! Often cuckolding stories are either superficial in plot and character development, or -at some points- boring due to too long description of husband/boyfriend thoughs. In "Good Girl Gone Bad" there is the exact mixture of thoughts and actions, attention to details and narration of events, reluctance and downfall of female protagonist, that keeps you reading the (long!) story. I do not know how the author will continue to keep reluctance after reaching the climax at the end of the (clearly open) story, but in the meanwhile I recommend it.

  5. I was hesitant to buy the book on amazon because I let my mother use my amazon account on her kindle, but it now occurred to me to just make a new amazon account. I'll be buying the book and writing a review this week.
Hope you don't lose all your motivation, I really love reading your stuff and wish you the best.

    1. Thanks! The nice thing about the ratings/comments section is you can leave it completely anonymous...or change your posted name to whatever you want...so people in similar situations do not need to "expose" themselves ;)
